WINNIPEG – The Royal Canadian Air Force band debuted their new video for a song that pays tribute to Armed Forces members and their families.

The song is called “Comin’ Home,” and was written by the RCAF band’s lead guitarist Sgt. Mike Hall after he returned from a trip to Afghanistan.

“They were very young. For a lot of them it was the very first time they’d been away from home. Other than to train, the next place that they went was to Afghanistan to represent their country,” said Hall.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

It celebrates the members who serve around the world and their families who support them at home by telling the story of a young man who enlists and is sent to Afghanistan.

“People really feel that this song speaks to them because it really talks about the true meaning of what it is to be a deployed member of the Canadian Armed
Forces,” said Sgt. David Grennon, the band’s lead singer.

“We want to get our message out to as many people as possible as we can, we want to get our message out to as many soldiers, airmen and sailors as we can and support these people.” said Hall.

The Air Force band will stage a public performance at The Forks on Saturday, May 14.
