REGINA – One of the youths charged in the homicide of 16-year-old Hannah Leflar pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in a Regina courtroom on Friday.
The Crown is requesting that the teen be sentenced as an adult, and asking for a psych assessment.
The defence has no objections to the Crown’s request for a psychological and psychiatric report for the 17-year-old teen.
“Given the seriousness of the offence we don’t believe that anything short of a life sentence is an appropriate disposition for this particular young person,” Crown Prosecutor Chris White said.

A hearing on whether he can be sentenced as an adult will be held October 24.
The second 17-year-old teen also charged in Leflar’s murder is in custody and has a court date scheduled for November 14th.
Neither of the two youth charged in connection to the homicide can be named because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Hannah Leflar’s body was found inside a home on the 400 block of Garnet Street North back on January 12th, 2015.
