MONTREAL – A 36-year-old man has died and his two-year-old son is in critical condition in hospital after being found at the bottom of a hotel pool.
The father and son, who are from the U.S., were found unconscious around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Marriott Residence Inn at 2170 Lincoln Ave.
According to officials, the two had not regained consciousness when they were taken to hospital; the man was pronounced dead.
According to the Quebec Lifesaving Society, smaller pools do not require an on-duty lifeguard.
Officers could not confirm the size of the pool at the hotel.
Police are awaiting a coroner’s report to determine the exact cause of death, but say he may have suffered a medical emergency.
