Moviegoers first met Jake Lloyd when he was just a child, playing young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, but it appears that Lloyd has had some difficult times as of late.

As TMZ reports, the troubled young man was arrested last year after leading police on a high-speed car chase, and is now being moved from jail to a psychiatric facility.

“The actor’s mom, Lisa, tells us authorities reached the conclusion he needed help more than punishment, because he suffers from schizophrenia … thus the move,” reports TMZ.

According to Lloyd’s mother, she spoke with her son last week and, since he’s started undergoing treatment says she “can already see an improvement in Jake’s personality.”
