WINNIPEG — More than 100 kids from Manitoba embarked on an epic one day journey to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World on Wednesday.

It was part of the 21st annual “Dreams Take Flight” trip that volunteers from Air Canada help organize. The event allows children who are physically, socially or mentally disadvantaged to experience the wonders of the massive amusement park.

It takes about 150 volunteers to make this day happen; from helpers at the airport to the group leaders going on the trip, including Global’s Eva Kovacs.

The adventure started Wednesday, with a 3 a.m. arrival at Winnipeg’s airport.

Mixed emotions filled the rooms as children said goodbye to their families and headed through a balloon archway towards the plane.
