Prince announces two surprise shows in Toronto on Friday

Prince will perform “two exclusive and intimate shows” this Friday in Toronto.

On Wednesday the artist posted a promotional picture alongside text listing 7 and 10 p.m. performances at the Sony Centre on March 25.

“TORONTO… U GOT NEXT!” The tweet is captioned.

Shortly after Prince’s tweet the Sony Centre confirmed the performances. Tickets go on sale Thursday morning at 10 a.m.

Prince is currently on his Piano & A Microphone tour. All attendees to his Toronto shows will receive a CD copy of his new album, HITNRUN – Phase II.

Each show he performs on the tour will have a unique set list with material from the artist’s 39 albums.

“For those blessed enough to attend, everything about these exclusive performances has been carefully considered to deliver special once-in-a-lifetime experiences,” the concert listing says.

Prince has a special connection with the city of Toronto. He was previously married to Toronto native Manuela Testolini and lived in a Bridle Path mansion.

Friday’s concerts, and its ticket pre-sales, will come as good news to fans who waited in the rain outside Massey Hall in the fall of 2014 for a rumoured Prince concert that never happened.
