The remains of 16-year-old Delaine Copenace have been found in Lake of the Woods in Kenora, Ont.
The Ontario Provincial Police said they were contacted by Kenora city employees who discovered human remains in the water.
The OPP confirmed the body was Copenace, who has been missing since Feb. 27, when she was last seen in downtown Kenora.

Earlier this month, Copenance’s family made an emotional plea for any information about the girl’s whereabouts.
“I know she is terrified,” her mom Anida Ross said. “Each day I wake up, I hope, I pray that today is the day we bring my baby home.”
Her mom said the teen was a homebody who has never run away and would never disappear on her own.

Hundreds of volunteers scoured the streets of Kenora looking for the missing teen. The search expanded to Winnipeg where she has family.
Even the Bear Clan Patrol organized search efforts throughout the Manitoba capital in hopes of finding any clues about Copenace.
Officers in Ontario have released little information about the recovery. Copenace’s body is being sent to Toronto where the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Services will conduct an examination.
At this time, police are not saying if foul play is suspected.
Copenance’s family released a statement Tuesday afternoon thanking those who helped with the search and support.
The family of Delaine Copenace would like to thank everyone for the continuous support and prayers. At this time Delaine’s loved ones are asking that their privacy be respected as they take some time together to grieve the devastating loss of their daughter, sister and granddaughter and friend.
