WINNIPEG – Police have made an arrest in connection with an early morning shooting in East Kildonan.
On Sunday, around 4 a.m. several police cruisers and other emergency units blocked off a residential street east in East Kildonan after neighbours heard what they thought were gunshots.
The response centered on the corner of Henderson Highway and Hazel Dell Ave. Winnipeg police confirm an altercation began between several people outside a home on Hazel Dell Avenue and one person took out a gun, shooting three others.
Those three individuals were rushed to hospital suffering from serious injuries.
On Sunday night, Winnipeg police asked for the public’s help in identifying one suspect and an arrest warrant was issued for 22 year-old Haben Nipsey Weldekidan. Early Monday morning, officers said the Major Crimes Unit made the arrest of Weldekidan, and no other suspects are being considered at this time.
