Powerful winds cause chaos in Kelowna

A fallen tree took down wires on Lewis Road in Kelowna Saturday. Randy Millis

KELOWNA- Wind gusts of up to 76 kilometres per hour blasted east Kelowna Saturday afternoon, knocking over trees, power lines, and causing delays across the city.

Winds howling through the valley left much of the North Okanagan without electricity for a time Saturday afternoon.

McCullough Road was closed while crews cleaned up a fallen tree, and power lines fell over at Spiers, Gulley, and Lewis Roads.
