MONTREAL – She may hold the title of first Canadian to have ever auditioned on reality competition The Voice, but Brittany Kennell said her biggest singing goal is a little closer to home — in the Bell Centre, in fact.

Kennell told Global News she has always dreamed of singing the national anthem at a Montreal Canadiens home game.

“It is definitely on my dream list,” she said. “That would be amazing.”

The 27-year-old Beaconsfield native became the first Canadian ever to audition on the American show when she sang Sheryl Crow’s Strong Enough.

Her performance wowed the judges, giving her a solid slot on #TeamBlake.

“He’s hilarious,” Kennell told Global News Tuesday.

“He’s really great with just being one on one.”

Kennell lives in Nashville now, but said she’ll be back in her hometown to spend some time with her family.

“I’ll actually be home from March 21 until April 7,” she confirmed.

Her family hopes the Habs will welcome her into their home then.

“She really wants to sing at the Bell Centre at the Habs game,” said Theresa Valentine, Kennell’s mother.

It’s a little piece of home that Kennell hopes she’ll be able to take back to the U.S. with her.

“It’s not easy being away from home,” she told Global News Tuesday.

“It’s not easy being away from the family and there’s been some really tough days when I’m just about ready to pack up and go home and so this is just giving me a connection to home.”

The next step for Kennell is to make it through the battle rounds on The Voice.
