WINNIPEG — It’s another sign that winter is on its way out; The Winnipeg Folk Festival announced its 2016 summer lineup Thursday.
The annual festival takes place at Birds Hill Provincial park from July 7 to 10. It draws thousands of fans each year, including many from across North America.
Musical guests include Ryan Adams, Lord Huron, Milky Chance and Sam Roberts Band.
Global’s Mike Koncan sat down with one of the festival’s organizers Friday morning to talk about the exciting musical acts.
“There are 70 bands from 10 different countries, so it’s a really world festival this year,” said Lynne Skromeda, executive director of the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
“We also have four local acts that will be featured on our Manitoba stage.”
Tickets go on sale Friday at 11 a.m. through Ticketmaster and at the Winnipeg Folk Festival office on Bannatyne Avenue.
The full list of performers for the 43rd edition of the summer festival, is available online.
