Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau is making her own mark in Washington D.C. as her husband, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, cemented Canada-U.S. relations for years to come.
“We’ve already gotten into trouble,” Obama quipped.
“What’s it going to be like by the end of the day?” Grégoire-Trudeau fired back.

Obama continued to praise Grégoire-Trudeau, as well as her family.
“In addition to being beautiful and funny – which I just found out – she’s got a great sense of humour. She was cracking me up back there…
“Like me, she knows that family comes first, she has the cutest kids, and one really little, delicious one.”
Both women spoke passionately about a new American program, Let Girls Learn, which is dedicated to investing in global primary school education and adolescent education.
“An educated young girl becomes an educated … mother or mentor or friend, professional. That makes for an educated society and an education makes for a more peaceful and just place to be and to grow in,” Grégoire-Trudeau said.
The friendship was cemented after Grégoire-Trudeau came to Obama’s rescue as she seemed to lose her balance while exiting the stage.
Cliff Owen, a photographer for The Associated Press, snapped a series of pictures of an open-armed Grégoire-Trudeau helping Obama off the stage.
“It’s like two 14-year-old girls … they were just joking and laughing and having a really good time,” Owen told the Canadian Press.
“You get the impression they’re going to sneak out of the White House and hit a few bars. They’re just having a really good time with each other.”
