Saskatchewan election results 2016: Sask. Party wins Regina Rochdale riding

Laura Ross of the Sask. Party has won the Regina Rochdale riding with 5,725 votes beating out the NDP’s Brett Estey who got 3,526 votes.

Summary: An urban riding in northwest Regina.

Boundaries: The riding includes the Regina neighbourhoods of Twin Lakes, Lakeridge and Argyle Park. It stretches from Armour Road in the north to south of Fairways West and Wascana Creek, then west from Pinkie Road to Albert Street in the east.

Last Election: New riding so no incumbent.

History: This is a new riding created for the April 4 provincial election. Three additional constituencies have been added for this general election. The new boundaries were passed into law on May 15, 2013 after feedback from individuals and groups.

Candidates

Saskatchewan Party: Laura Ross, the current MLA for Regina Qu’Appelle Valley electoral district. Committee Chair for the Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice Committee. She also served as Minister of Government Services for one term.

NDP: Brett Estey, a civil servant. He has previously worked with the Canadian Cancer Society and has coached football at Winston Knoll.

Liberal: Nadeem Islam, realtor

Green: Billy Patterson
