Man charged with second-degree murder in double stabbing outside North York bar

TORONTO — A charge of second-degree murder has been laid after a double stabbing at a North York bar ended in the death of a young man.

Police say 20-year-old Kiowa Wind McComb died in hospital after being stabbed around 2 a.m. Tuesday at Gucci’s Bar and Grill.

A 23-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say a suspect and another person fled in a taxi. The suspect was apprehended when police stopped the cab, but the other passenger got away.

Det. Sgt. Gary Giroux said the stabbings took place following an altercation outside the bar.

Thirty-five-year-old Andre Appleton, of Toronto, is charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder.

Police are looking for the second person who was in the cab, and are reviewing security cameras from the area in an attempt to identify them.
