It’s a parody of a well-known pop song that was just waiting to happen.

With Manitoba plunged into a deep freeze, Steinbach radio DJ Corny Rempel recorded a version of The Weeknd’s song ‘I Can’t Feel My Face’.

The idea came to him while working on the MIX 96 morning show last week.

“I sat down and wrote the lyrics in 20 minutes,” Rempel told Global News. “I was outside with a camera the next day putting it together.”

The video was posted on YouTube last week and already more than 17,000 people have watched it.

“It’s relatable,” Rempel said, adding he has received messages from across Canada.

The video focuses on things made difficult because of the cold weather. Rempel said it was around -22 Celsius while filming but felt more like -35 C with the windchill.

At one point Rempel is shown licking a metal pole. It was all a camera trick.

“I did lick the pole but don’t try this at home,” he said. “I had duct tape on the pole where I would lick it.”

However he just missed his mark. A little piece of his tongue touched the cold metal and ended up causing him to bleed.
