Second person facing murder charges from October 2015 homicide

REGINA – A second person is now facing murder charges in Regina’s eighth homicide of 2015.

On October 22nd Regina Police were called to the 1500 block of Robinson street for an injured person and found 48-year-old Matthew John Wells dead in a residence.

At around the same time that night, Police were also called to the 2200 block of Robinson street in the Cathedral neighbourhood where a caller indicated that they heard shots fired.

When police got to this block of Robinson Street, they found the balcony doors of an apartment shattered and believe that gunshots were fired at the residence, then the suspects fled the scene.

That same night police responded to a report of an arson and theft from a vehicle, also now thought to be linked to the homicide and gunfire.

25-year-old Jason Dustin Hotomanie of the Broadview District is now facing seven charges including Second Degree Murder, Arson Causing Damage to Property and Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime.

Hotomaine will make his first court appearance on Friday morning.

Police previously arrested a 15-year-old young offender male who is charged with Second Degree Murder.
