Police are seeking the public’s help identifying a male suspect who allegedly pepper sprayed a dog and two women on a hiking trail in Halton Hills on Christmas Day.
The alleged incident happened around 2:30 p.m. ET. while two women were walking an off-leash dog in the Terra Cotta Conservation area.
Halton Reginal Police say the victims were on the orange trail in the area’s far west end when a man heading towards them pulled out what appeared to be a can of pepper spray and used it on the dog.
The suspect then allegedly sprayed the two women in the face and fled the area.
Police say both women were treated at a nearby hospital and released. The dog didn’t suffer any injuries other than some irritation.
The man is described as white, middle-aged, about 5’10” tall and with a slim build.
He was wearing beige hiking pants, sunglasses, a baseball cap and holding a wooden hiking pole.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Constable Dylan Price, 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905 825-4747 ext 2422 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222-8477 (TIPS).
