UPDATE: Homicide detectives identify man shot to death in north Edmonton

EDMONTON — Edmonton homicide detectives confirmed Friday that a 31-year-old man found in an alley died of gunshot wounds.

Police and EMS were called to Duster’s Pub at 64 Street and 118 Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday.

A man found in a parking lot alley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was taken to hospital, where he died early Thursday morning.

The victim was identified as Alex Leonard Greg Contois.

“At this point all that we know is that a shooting had occurred and we’re unsure of the details leading up to. Once witness interviews are completed we’ll obviously try to determine exactly that,” said Acting Insp. Terry Langley with Edmonton police.

No arrests have been made.

“At this point we have some reference to a suspect vehicle, however we’re still interviewing witnesses to determine what or who are suspects might be and what they may have been driving.”

There were a number of people inside the pub at the time. Police are hoping witnesses will be able to help in the suspicious death investigation.
