MONTREAL – Sunday was a busy day for Habs star, P.K. Subban.
When he wasn’t busy making miracles happen at the Montreal Chest Institute, he was scrawling his name on hundreds of Winter Classic jerseys at the Montreal Children’s Hospital atrium, all for a good cause.

Each signed jersey comes at a price, but 100 per cent of the profits benefit P.K.’s Helping Hand, a fund to assist vulnerable families at the Children’s who are financially devastated by a child’s illness.
A few lucky patients also got their hands on the coveted sweaters as Subban made the rounds.
But to the kids it was about more than just a jersey.
“I felt very special to actually hug him and meet him in person,” said Christina Maria Dangelas, a patient at the hospital. “He’s a very good person.”
Her mother agreed.
“He couldn’t be doing a more special thing for the children,” she said. “Once you’re in here, you realize where all the money goes.”
Daniel Harris, whose daughter is also a patient echoed the sentiment.
“It’s impressive,” he said “Just to take the time to come onto the floor and see the kids, it’s amazing.”

And for Subban, visiting the hospital is a way not only to give back to the community but also to stay grounded.
“It prepares you for life,” he said. “I think it’s great to understand the things that people have to deal with in their lives every day.”
Subban also made a surprise announcement. He’s partnering with hockey legend and former Bruins Captain, Ray Bourque, to organize a charity raffle for the Winter Classic, the annual outdoor regular season hockey game.
This year’s classic pits the Montreal Canadiens against arch-rivals the Boston Bruins.
If you weren’t able to make it to the atrium for the signing, you might still be able to get yourself an autographed jersey via the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation website.
