Wastewater treatment plant ahead of schedule, on budget

REGINA – The new wastewater treatment plant for Regina is now 75 per cent complete.

Construction of the new plant and upgrades to the existing plant are on budget and slightly ahead of schedule according to the City of Regina.

Upgrades to the plant will address a higher provincial effluent regulations and standards, and also provide the capacity for growth.

“We could not be more pleased that this project is on budget and ahead of schedule,” said Mayor Michael Fougere.

“Reginans and neighbouring communities look forward to the improved water quality and environmental benefits these upgrades will provide.”

The next phase of the project will tie the existing plant into the Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) system and the secondary clarifiers.

The upgraded plant is scheduled to be substantially completed by December of 2016.
