Caught on camera: Michigan woman slams car into police officer after traffic stop

Dramatic dash cam video shows a Michigan woman reversing her car into a police officer after a confrontational traffic stop.

Breianna Smart, 22, was allegedly driving with a suspended license on Oct. 23 when officer Martin Mikolajczak of the Auburn Hills police department pulled her over.

In the video, Mikolajczak recognizes Smart – even calling her by her first name – from when he ticketed her in August for driving the wrong way.

Smart, who was talking to a male on the phone at the time, tells the man Mikolajczak is “hitting” her.

Lieutenant Jill McDonnell of the same police force told Detroit News 7 that Mikolajczak cannot be seen striking Smart in the video.

“[Mikolajczak’s] just trying to maintain control of her and get the handcuffs on her,” McDonnell told News 7.

After Mikolajczak struggles to retain Smart and arrest her, she somehow manages to get back into her vehicle and reverses her car into Mikolajczak, nearly running him over.

Mikolajczak was hurt in the incident but is now OK and back on the job.

Smart is charged with fleeing and eluding police as well as resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.
