Death of gas station owner is Edmonton’s 19th homicide of 2015

EDMONTON – Edmonton police are investigating the death of a gas station owner as a homicide, after he was involved in an altercation at work last Friday.

Just before 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, officers responded to a “trouble not known” call at a gas station near 75 Avenue and 50 Street.

It’s believed a male customer at the gas station was involved in a physical dispute of some sort with the owner.

Suffering from life-threatening head injuries, the man was taken to hospital, where he died six days later.

An autopsy was done Thursday morning and the death of Surinder Pal Singh, 61, was declared a homicide by police. The cause of death was head trauma.

Detectives interviewed the other man involved, but he is not in custody and not facing charges at this time.
