EDMONTON – Family, friends and even complete strangers came together Saturday afternoon in hopes of locating an Edmonton man who hasn’t been seen for more than a week.
David Leblanc, 35, was last seen near his apartment in the area of 103 Avenue and 95 Street on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Della Curry, who is close friends with Leblanc’s mother, said he suffers from mental illness and does not have his medication with him.
Curry said one of Leblanc’s sisters contacts him every day and grew worried when she couldn’t reach him. Leblanc’s disappearance is considered out of character and, because of that, there are concerns for his well-being.
“This is very unusual behaviour for David. He is always so cautious,” said Curry. “Without his medication he can get very, very scared so that’s likely the case with him right now.”
Police said there are no indications to suggest foul play.

On Saturday, Curry and dozens of other concerned Edmontonians focused their search efforts on the downtown core. Curry said while he may be scared, Leblanc is not a violent man, and he is very approachable.
“David is a very, very private person and you may have seen him many times in his life walking downtown because he loves to walk,” she said.

Curry said one of Leblanc’s sisters is about to give birth and his family is very worried about him.
“This is the least that we as friends can do for the family to give them just a little bit of a break and let them know that there is hundreds and hundreds of posters going out.”
The 35-year-old is described as a Caucasian man, 6’1”, approximately 170 lbs. He has blue eyes and light brown/grey hair.
“He’s a beautiful 35-year-old man with piercing blue eyes. He may have a beard now but you can’t miss his eyes,” Curry added.
Leblanc was last seen wearing black military boots, jeans and metal framed sunglasses.
