REGINA – The Saskatchewan Science Centre opened a new, permanent exhibit on Wednesday morning.

Building Connections is focused on home building, community design, and power distribution. The whole addition is tied together with a sustainability theme.

“In other science centres you’ll often find an energy gallery or a design gallery,” said Science Centre CEO Sandy Baumgartner. “But we’ve put them all together and think it’s a really unique experience.”

There are plenty of fun activities for the kids, like brick building stations and a human hamster wheel, plus the information is deep enough for adults.

“There’s science everywhere, and I think learning and discovering about the importance of science in our everyday lives is a great tool for visitors to discover science,” said Baumgartner. “We usually think of science as something not connected to our daily reality, but it’s everywhere.”

The installation was put together in partnership with SaskPower, Regina & Region Home Builders’ Association, and Dream Development.
