Liberal candidate Hedy Fry has been elected in the riding of Vancouver Centre.

Fry won in decisive fashion, garnering 56.5 per cent of the vote, well ahead of the NDP’s Constance Barnes, who finished with just 20 per cent of the vote.

This is Vancouver’s downtown riding and Fry was hoping to be elected to an eighth term.

She won her seventh term in Vancouver Centre, defeating NDP candidate Karen Shillington by five per cent. With the exception 1980 to 1993, when the seat was held by Progressive Conservative MPs, the Liberals have held Vancouver Centre since 1962.

This riding encompasses all of Downtown Vancouver, with the exception of the Downtown Eastside, along with the False Creek neighbourhoods between Arbutus and Main Street.
