REGINA – Conservative Cathay Wagantall has been elected as a first time MP for the Yorkton-Melville riding.
Wagantall was going up against NDP candidate Doug Ottenbreit, Liberal candidate Taylor Malinoski and Green Party candidate Elaine Marie Hughes
The Yorkton-Melville riding is a rural riding in eastern Saskatchewan that has selected a new MP for the first time in 22 years.

The riding’s boundaries includes Quill Lake, Wadena, Endeavour, and Yorkton and Melville.
In the 2011 election retiring MP Garry Breitkreuz defeated NDP candidate Doug Ottenbreit by 47.1 per cent.
According to the 2011 National Household survey this riding has the highest percentage of people with Ukranian roots in all of Canada.
Yorkton is the largest city in this riding.
