Celebrating Lethbridge’s most diverse residents

LETHBRIDGE – Celebrating those in our community who go above and beyond was an important theme of Wednesday night’s Immigrant Achievement Awards.

The annual event, hosted by Lethbridge Family Services, honours diverse individuals who have found a way to strengthen and help improve our community through different areas, including business, sports, arts, culture and public service.

“This is an overwhelming feeling, because among a lot of people that we have here in Canada, especially immigrants, I have been one that has been chosen,” said Maritza Stinson, winner of the community service award.

“I can’t even explain in words, it means the world to me. I’m truly humbled,” said Harsha Bandara, sports award recipient.

This is the sixth year of the awards, which are meant to encourage those newcomers who contribute to the growth of the city and cultural diversity in Lethbridge.
