DARTMOUTH – The Nova Scotia government has announced its latest step in efforts to revitalize the Dartmouth General Hospital.

The final technical design contract was awarded today to a Nova Scotia firm for the fifth floor, which will create new workable space that will accommodate 46 more beds and eight new operating rooms.

The contract is in addition to renovations currently underway to Dartmouth General’s third and fourth floors.

Health and Wellness Minister Leo Glavine says the new accommodations will help relieve some of the pressure from the Victoria General site in the short term and lay the foundation for a longer term plan that’s currently underway.
