Police are asking for the public’s help to find an RCMP gun and weapons-related equipment stolen from a locked police car last week in Grande Prairie, Alta.
RCMP said one or more thieves broke into a parked police car in the area of 108 Street and 100 Avenue sometime between 8:15 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. Friday.
Stolen items include:
- One RCMP-issued Smith and Wesson 9 mm service pistol;
- Three RCMP-issued magazines with ammunition for the service pistol;
- One RCMP-issued extendable black police baton.
Police said the service pistol was unloaded, had a trigger lock device, and was secured in a locked gun box.
Alberta RCMP didn’t have additional information on whether the car was parked outside of a home or business, or whether the officer was on duty at the time of the theft.
Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or who has information about the whereabouts of the stolen items is asked to call police immediately.
