Police pursuit of stolen truck ends in drug, firearm charges

SASKATOON – A 33-year-old man was apprehended after Saskatoon police recognized a truck he was driving as one that had been reported stolen earlier on Friday. The suspect was spotted in the area of 33rd Street West and Circle Drive shortly after 5:30 p.m. CT.

Patrol officers attempted to pull the suspect vehicle over but the driver refused to stop.

The stolen truck continued to drive up and down alleys and around the neighborhood with police following with lights and siren activated. Police say speeds did not exceed the posted speed limit.

Eventually, the suspect stopped the vehicle in the city’s Westview neighborhood and was taken into custody.

The man is facing numerous charges related to drugs, vehicle theft, possession of an illegal firearm as well as attempting to evade police. He was expected to appear before a justice of the peace Saturday.
