Pregnant Vancouver woman claims she was assaulted by cyclist

UPDATE: VPD Cst. Brian Montague said the cyclist came in to speak with police on his own and provided a statement. The incident remains under investigation.

A pregnant Vancouver woman claims she was assaulted Friday night by a cyclist who ran a stop sign.

In a Facebook post, Mandy Pappas wrote she was on her way to vote in an advance poll when she was almost run over by a cyclist who ignored a stop sign. She said she yelled at the man, who responded by knocking her over.

She said she tried to hold onto the cyclist’s backpack but was unable to keep the man at the scene.

According to Pappas, a passerby snapped a photo of the cyclist, which she then posted to social media.

VPD Cst. Brian Montague said there were no injuries in the incident and that police searched the area but were unable to locate the cyclist.
