CHATHAM, Ont. – The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says it has seized about 40 dogs in Chatham-Kent in what it alleges is part of a dog-fighting ring.
An OSPCA news release says its investigators and Chatham-Kent police raided a resident in Tilbury East Township on Friday.

Authorities say they found evidence that is consistent with the training of dogs to fight and also seized a number of firearms.
The dogs that were seized were found in varying health conditions and a treatment plan will be developed after they’re examined by a vet.
Three suspects were arrested and face charges of animal cruelty and firearm-related offences.
The suspects will be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
