Lions’ Andrew Harris named member of Team Shaw

Andrew Harris has been a regular visitor to the end zone during his six-year CFL career.

Harris, who was born in Winnipeg, isn’t just an elite Canadian in the CFL – he’s an elite player period, which is why he was chosen as the Lions rep for Team Shaw, an honour bestowed on one key player for each of the league’s nine teams.

“It’s pretty cool to be asked to do these kind of things and be chosen and be considered among my peers. It’s one of those things you have to enjoy, embrace, and have fun with,” said Harris.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

All team Shaw members get a special video shoot that embraces their personality.

“It’s all fun. I get to showcase some of my skills off the filed. I used to be a hockey player…so hopefully I still got it,” he says.

Harris is 28, young in life but old for a running back. He’s ready for the day when work doesn’t involve getting tackled by 300-pound linemen.

Harris took a real estate course last off-season, and also ran a window company in Nanaimo.

“Being over there, lots of connections with junior [football], I could see myself moving back there permanently after I’m done playing football.”

The Lions hope that won’t take place for some time to come.
