“It’s like where is Waldo? every sporting event you go to you find Gabe,” said Daerden, “he busts out the air guitar, it’s a good time for everybody.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The idea came after the trio noticed “the green men” from the Vancouver Canucks games in the crowd of NHL 16 and figured why not Dancin’ Gabe.

“If they’re in the game then Gabe should be,” said Daerden, “They’ve only been relevant for a few years, Gabe’s been around Winnipeg sporting events for 30 plus years.”

Even Jets players say Gabe should be a part of their game.

“If ‘the green men’ are on there, I think he’s just as big if not bigger here than they are there,” said Jets Centre Bryan Little .

“I know he means a lot to the home base and the fan base here so I can understand why Winnipeggers would want him on the EA game,” said Jets Right Wing Chris Thorburn.

Gabe hasn’t missed a Jets game yet and says he’d be “ecstatic” if he got put in the game.

“I’ve never gone in a video game before and it’s a dream come true,” said Gabe.
