HALIFAX – Joint Task Force Atlantic has sent out photos of Monday’s rescue of nine Newfoundland sailors who had abandoned their vessel near Frobisher Bay, Nunavut.

The Halifax-based task force tweeted on Monday night that they had successfully rescued the fishers and they were taken aboard FV Pamiut.

The fishermen had abandoned their boat in Frobisher Bay, about 400 kilometres from Iqaluit when it began taking on water. The crew of the boat were able to put on survival suits and make it into the life boat.
