‘I’m not trying to be mean, I just want everyone to be friends’: 6-year-old Surrey girl gives mom life lesson

Out of the mouths of babes comes incredible wisdom.

A single mother from Surrey, B.C. recorded a video of her six-year-old daughter Tiana offering some sage advice on loving one another. The mother and the girl’s father had apparently gotten into an argument.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

After asking her mom whether she was ready to be friends with her ex-husband, Tiana says she just doesn’t want her parents to be “meanies.”

“I’m not trying to mean, I just want everyone to be friends. And if I can be nice, I think all of us can be nice too,” she says in the video.

The first-grader goes on to share her hopes and dreams for the world: that everyone would smile and be friends.

First posted online last Wednesday, the video has already been viewed 9.6 million times on Facebook.
