There’s always a method to Johnny Depp’s madness, especially when it comes to his commitment to his characters – but even for Depp, Whitey Bulger was a bit too much to handle.

Depp who is unrecognizable as Boston gangster Whitey Bulger in the film Black Mass, with a receding white-grey hair line and piercing eyes, tells ET Canada he will always have a bit of Bulger with him.

“I think with any character you play, there’s always a touch of them that sticks with you throughout and in a weird way kind of stays with you for life,” Depp said.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.
