WINNIPEG – A local community is raising money to help the family involved in a fatal crash south of the border last month.
Erin Bateman, 38 of Manitoba, was involved in a fatal collision near at Albertville, Minnesota outlet mall on August 29th.
Her 10-year-old daughter, Elisabeth Sabourin was also seriously injured. She suffered a broken vertebrae and a broken leg. She’s had two surgeries since the crash.
A GoFundMe page has been created to support Sabourin. So far more than $3,000 has been raised.
Bateman and her daughter were traveling to the Wisconsin Dells for a family vacation with her parents.
The family was traveling on Interstate 94 near the exit to Albertville Premium Outlet. There was signage on the highway telling vehicles to stop due to an incident up ahead. While stopped, Bateman unbuckled her seat belt to reach for a movie for her daughter, when their vehicle was rear-ended.
