EDMONTON — If swimming or skating at the Meadows Community Recreation Centre is part of your physical activity routine, you’ll have to find a different location for several weeks this fall.

The ice rinks and swimming pool at the southeast Edmonton rec centre will be closed between Sept. 8 and Oct. 31 for construction warranty maintenance.

“As part of the construction process for this facility, a warranty shutdown is required during the first year of operations to ensure all aspects of the building are working as designed,” said the City of Edmonton.

The latest health and medical news emailed to you every Sunday.

The rest of the facility will remain open during the maintenance, with most registered and drop-in programs continuing as scheduled.

The city said it does, however, anticipate minor interruptions to the fitness centres, indoor playground, gymnasium, exercise studios and multipurpose rooms.

The Meadows Community League space, Edmonton Public Library and Rejuvenation Health Services will remain open and operate normally.

City staff are asking members to use the swimming pools and ice rinks at one of the other City of Edmonton facilities during the temporary shut down.
