HALIFAX – Imperial Oil said the reason for the gas shortages in and around the Halifax area the last few days is due to delays in marine deliveries.
Spokesperson Merle MacIsaac would not comment on when the delivery was originally supposed to arrive or on how many days the shipment was delayed.
“We have been working to address the issue but this was made more difficult because of the limited alternate sources of supply at the current time,” he said.
However, he said the shipment arrived Friday or Saturday and is processing and being tested right now.
There were frustrations and concerns after many gas stations ran out of gas Saturday.
MacIsaac said the tested and processed delivery would arrive at the Dartmouth terminal by mid-Monday and would then be available for delivery to gas stations shortly afterward.
“Return to normal inventories at retail stations will follow as the product is delivered from our terminal to retail sites over a day or two. The return to normal inventory for premium fuel will take a few days longer,” he said.
