What’s new on tap? Helping Cats

Rebellion will donate $1 from every pint or growler of the new "Cat's Got the Cream Ale" to Regina Cat Rescue. Global News

REGINA – It’s an unlikely combination, but a local brewery has found a way to put beer and cats together.

Rebellion Brewing, located on 1901 Dewdney Ave, has a new ale on tap and part of the proceeds will go to Regina Cat Rescue.

“We’re going to be donating $1 from every pint and every growler sold here in the tap room,” explained Mark Heise, Rebellion Brewing brew master.

The ale is called “Cat’s Got the Cream”: it’s a vanilla cream style ale.  The idea came from a contest for the company to brew a new beer and find a partnering charity. Rachel Molnar, a volunteer at the Regina Cat Rescue submitted the suggestion.

“There are thousands of abandoned cats in Regina so this will go a long way in helping us pay for vet care and that kind of thing. But (it) also just helps to provide awareness for who we are and what we do,” said Molnar.

Rebellion brewed about 2000 litres of the new ale and expects it to last one month.
