WATCH ABOVE: Yup, Humbert the cat is seeking the federal nomination in the riding of NDG-Westmount.
MONTREAL – It looks like things in NDG are about to get hairy.
Federal politicians in the NDG-Westmount riding of Montreal are about to have some unofficial furry competition in Humbert the cat.
“When we saw the election signs go up, we thought ‘let’s get up our own,” said John Jordan, the cat’s owner.
“When we thought of a good candidate to nominate, we picked the cat.”
Some of Humbert’s slogans include “an honest face” and “keep the box clean.”
“He’s a man of the people, he’s a well-known public figure in NDG,” said Jordan.
“He gets along with everyone and he has all four paws on the ground.”
Humbert will face-off against Liberal incumbent Marc Garneau, NDP candidate Jim Hughes and Conservative candidate Richard Sagala.
