Health care whistleblower terminated by Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon

According to Saskatoon Health Region, Oliver Lodge care home has terminated whistleblower Peter Bowden, but for other reasons. File / Global News

SASKATOON – Peter Bowden has been fired by Oliver Lodge, according to a statement received by Global News Saturday from the Saskatoon Health Region (SHR). The seniors’ care aide worker publicly voiced understaffing concerns about his former workplace earlier this year.

According to SHR president and CEO Dan Florizone, the decision to terminate Bowden’s employment was not a result of him contacting the media or political parties regarding his concerns.

He voiced his concerns in late March.

Bowden was suspended with pay from Oliver Lodge in April, which is an affiliate of SHR, following his remarks.

Florizone’s statement says his termination was made based on the results of a labour relations investigation. He added that seven of the region’s policies were allegedly violated.
