TORONTO – Thrill-seekers got more than they bargained for recently on a slingshot ride in France. When a bungee cord snapped, the part of the ride carrying the passengers was sent slamming into the side of the ride.
The accident occurred at Luna Park, Cap D’Agde in France. Herault 24 reports that a 24-year-old woman broke her leg and a 27-year-old companion suffered bruises.

Claude Pons recorded the incident and posted a clip Thursday on Facebook and YouTube. It has since gone viral, with more than 1.7 million views at the time of this writing.
Pons claimed to be a friend of the victims, saying the group was there to celebrate the male victim’s birthday. He also mentioned another couple claimed to have heard a ‘fraying’ sound before an employee approved a safety check and launched the ride.
An investigation is ongoing.
