Summary: After becoming a rookie MP at the tender age of 20, Laurin Liu seeks re-election for the NDP in this suburban riding.

Boundaries: A mid-sized, mid-density seat to the north of Laval, it includes the cities of Bosibrand, Rosemère and Sainte-Thérèse.

Last Election: NDP candidate Laurin Liu defeated Bloc Quebécois MP Luc Desnoyers by 20.7 per cent, becoming one of five students from McGill University to be elected as NDP MPs from Quebec as part of the Orange Wave.

History: The riding was created prior to the 1997 election, and had been held by the BQ prior to Liu’s historic win. Prior to that, the riding was part of several suburban ridings north of Laval that elected a BQ MP in 1993, a PC MP in 1984 and 1988, and Liberal MPs for many elections prior to that.
