BELOEIL – Alexandre Gendron, 35, has been charged with the first-degree murder of girlfriend Cheryl Bau-Tremblay.
He appeared in Saint-Hyacinthe court Friday.
Police found Bau-Tremblay’s body inside the couple’s Beloeil home Thursday night.
Gendron has faced at least eight other criminal charges, dating back to 2005.
Bau-Tremblay was five months pregnant and had been missing since Saturday, Aug. 1 after apparently leaving home on foot without her keys or credit cards.
Bau-Tremblay had just come back from a trip to Magog in the Eastern Townships.
Officers entered the Alexander Street home Thursday afternoon where the 28-year-old mother-to-be was last seen.
