MONTREAL – The cost of being a Canadiens fan is going up.

The price of Habs season tickets is increasing for anyone sitting in the white, grey and blue balcony sections.

“Yes, the ticket prices will be increasing,” said Donald Beauchamp, Canadiens Vice-President of Communications.

“The upper balcony has not seen an increase in their ticket prices since 1996. There had to be an adjustment.”

The biggest price hike affects the blue section, with an increase of about 25 per cent.

For the greys, prices will go up by 20 per cent, while the white seats will see an increase of 10 per cent.

All in all, ticket holders will see an increase of about $7 per ticket, per game.

“It reflects the true market value,” Beauchamp told Global News.

In recent years, price increases were 3 per cent for the 2011-12 season, 2.4 per cent in 2012-13 and only 0.3 per cent for the 2014-15 season.

Beauchamp said family sections and season ticket holders in the Bell Centre’s other sections will not be affected.
