Federal Election 2015: Lakeland riding results

Real time live results available on Monday, October 19 2015 after polls close. Overall results will be available here.

Summary: This is a new riding, which closely resembles a riding by the same name that was abolished in the last boundary redistribution in 2003. Vegreville-Wainwright MP Leon Benoit has represented this area since 1993, but is not re-offering. Shannon Stubbs, a former Chief of Staff to then-Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith, will try to keep this seat Conservative.

Boundaries: Covering east-central Alberta, from the outskirts of greater Edmonton all the way to the Saskatchewan border, Lakeland has been carved out of bits of three former ridings. It includes Lloydminster, Vermilion, Vegreville, St. Paul, Smoky Lake, Bonnyville and Athabasca.

Last Election: Had the current boundaries been in effect in 2011, the Conservatives would have earned 79 per cent of the vote, the NDP taking 11 per cent.

History: All of the regions that make up this riding have consistently voted on the political right.
