Summary: B.C.’s largest and least populated riding, this northwest riding has been represented by NDP MP Nathan Cullen since 2004.

Boundaries: A sprawling district home to all of northwestern B.C., Skeena-Bulkley Valley roughly comprises areas to the north and west of Vanderhoof, including Prince Rupert, Terrace, and Haida Gwaii. It also includes Bella Coola and other communities on B.C.’s Central Coast.

Last Election: NDP MP Nathan Cullen was elected to his fourth term in this riding, defeating his nearest challenger, Conservative candidate Clay Harmon, by 20.8 per cent.

History: Skeena-Bulkley Valley has elected NDP candidates in 10 of the last 14 elections, including Cullen for the last four.

Demographics: A riding of extremes, Skeena-Bulkley Valley has the highest percentage of seniors (30 per cent) and First Nations people (29.6 per cent) in British Columbia—but also the smallest percentage of people immigrating between 2006 and 2011, at 0.75 per cent of the population as of the 2011 census.
