SAINT-DONAT – After a week of searching,  professional divers have finally recovered a Montreal man’s missing prosthetic leg.

Maxime Lévesque, 31, lost his leg last week after he went barefoot water-skiing on Lac Sylvère near Saint-Donat, two hours north of Montreal.

Lévesque hit a wave and the impact tore his prosthesis off, sending it into the lake.

The next day, Lévesque’s partner, Julie Kennedy, took to Facebook asking for help finding the leg.

Thousands answered the call, sharing the post widely across social media.

Volunteers exploring the lake repeatedly came up empty-handed — until Sunday.

In a Facebook post, Lévesque announced that Alain St-Marseille from the diving school Anémones bleues had put together a team of eight experienced divers to scour the lake.

They finally found the leg, half-covered in lake-bottom sediment at a depth of 82 feet.

Lévesque thanked all those who worked tirelessly in the search.
